Chan Gailey goes to Buffalo

Buffalo has finally hired a head coach yesterday: Chan Gailey.  This will be his first NFL head coaching job since the Cowboys', where he coached from 1998-1999.  Despite taking the Cowboys to playoffs both seasons, Jerry Jones fired him after the 1999 season.  He went 18-16 while there.

Starting as a graduate assistant at Florida from 1974-75, he has bounced around a lot, not staying in any place for an extended amount of time: Troy State ('76-'78, defensive backfield coach), Air Force ('79-'80, defensive backfield coach and '81-'82, defensive coordinator), Troy State again ('83-'84, head coach-won the DII National Championship in 84), Denver Broncos ('85-'86, special teams/tight ends; '87, tight ends/receivers; '88, QB coach; '89-'90, offensive coordinator), Birmingham Fire ('91-'92, head coach), Samford ('93, head coach), Steelers (1994-95, wide receivers coach; 1996-97, offensive coordinator), Cowboys ('98-'99, head coach),  Dolphins ('00-'01, offensive coordinator), Georgia Tech ('02-'07, head coach), Chiefs ('08-'09, offensive coordinator), and now to the Bills.  With his track record, I don't really see him staying there very long..but what do I know.

My absolute favorite part of this whole thing was the press conference (go about 12 seconds in to when Gailey finishes and they cut to Buddy Nix):

1. I love how Nix took a stab at the Raiders. To be honest, I love it when anyone takes a stab at the Raiders.
2. "Who wouldn't want to come here?"  Oh really Chan?  How about this, anyone who didn't want to be the Bills head coach, raise your hand.

I rest my case.
